A Different Background. A Different Approach.
I am not a conventional therapist. With four decades of experience as a Senior Police Officer and a Registered Nurse, I have dedicated my career to the frontlines of human crisis. My expertise lies in assisting individuals in addressing childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and PTSD. Operating from Market Harborough, I am among the few male therapists in the region with a focus on male sexual trauma and the recovery process. I provide a secure, straightforward, and authentic environment where clients can express their truths without reservation.

Client feedback
"Ian's sessions have been nothing less than transformational and I now feel far better equipped to live my life without a nagging fear of low moods and anxiety. I also now have a much more positive view of myself and those closest to me.
Ian is warm, friendly and supportive and is always hugely knowledgeable about both the theory of psychotherapy and how this can be appllied to everyday life. My time with Ian is, without doubt, amongst the most valuable expereinces of my life. I would highly recommend him."

My approach
Healing from trauma can feel overwhelming, especially when you have had to carry difficult experiences for a long time. I offer a compassionate, trauma-informed space where you will be met with respect, care and curiosity, not judgement. As a pluralistic psychotherapist, I draw on psychodynamic, trauma-informed CBT and IFS-informed therapy to help you understand your responses, develop ways of coping, and begin to reconnect with yourself at a pace that feels safe.
We will begin with an assessment and agree together what kind of therapy is most likely to support you. For some clients, this may involve working with Dr Judith Herman’s three-phase model of trauma recovery, focusing first on safety and stabilisation before gently moving towards processing and reconnection. For others, it may involve IFS-informed work, hypnotherapy for symptoms such as anxiety or nightmares, or a bespoke blend of approaches shaped around what matters most to you and your recovery.
Client feedback
"Narcissistic abuse and manipulation is truly life-changing. After years of gaslighting, I began therapy doubting my own sanity. Ian offered the deep listening and validation I desperately needed to feel safe and truly believed.
With Ian’s expert guidance, I was able to move towards radical acceptance – grieving the relationship, letting go of any hope that they might change, and breaking free from the trauma bond. Thanks to Ian’s insights, I’ve rebuilt my self-trust and reclaimed my sense of reality.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ian to anyone on the path to healing from narcissistic abuse and trauma."
Family feedback
"To have my son returning from the dark place he has been, to the light he once knew, one of the best things I have seen. I feel the warmth of his returning, reflected in all he is now, I dont have the words in my head, to show the great relief I see now, lovely, thank-you."
